This product is handmade by skilled artisans in a remote village in Argentina. It consists of a naturally grown gourd (a type of pumpkin) that is wrapped in special leather. The ring is made of German silver; an alloy of nickel, copper and zinc, and equipped with beautiful decorations.

Because this gourd consists entirely of natural products, each product is unique! The size, color of the leather and decorations on the edge are different for each gourd. The photos are therefore for illustration purposes only.

It is also extra important that you take good care of a natural product. For example, we recommend letting the gourd 'ripen' before using it for the first time (instructions are included). In addition, natural gourds are somewhat sensitive to the development of mold, so after each time the gourd is used, it must be cleaned and allowed to dry properly.

Original Parana wooden tiger gourd, made in Brazil from thick-walled gourd fruits. The cuia differs in shape from the classic Argentine gourd. It comes from a different part of the plant, closer to the stem, giving it its characteristic hourglass shape. Suitable for preparing Chimarrao-type yerba mate.

Brazilians have loved Chimarrao for a long time and this container was already in use before the European conquerors arrived in South America. Today, they are also very popular and many people in Brazil cannot imagine their lives without cuia and their favourite finely ground Chimarrao.
